Suggest Treatment For Irregular Periods

I have irregular periods since I got matured.irregular periods means I get periods after 2 mnths..1mnth 20 days....so I wento consult dr.she sed I cnt give yu any medicine bcuz I shud kno wat is the exact problem for irregular periods..so she said me to do scanning...the result was ovarian cyst vch is quite big of abt 4/6cm big...so to get rid of that cyst she gave me birth control pills..My question to you is is that ok to have that???she said me that after 21 days you vl have periods or aftr a week aftr hvng dt pills....I feel smwot to hav that frst of all im unmarried 21 years old...that too having birth control pills....im in doubtful situation plzz suggest me something..

Hello, In females irregular periods can occur due to PCOS (poly cystic ovarian syndrome) and /or thyroid dysfunction. So please get your thyroid assay done. If there is problem detected, that has to be addressed. Secondly if you are over weight, then regular exercise and weight control is also necessary to overcome the symptoms. Thqnks
