Hy, I have ended up in the emergency room after visiting my family doctor and the dr. in the em room told me i have intercostal myalgia dex. I ofcourse, know nothing about it, but it hurts a lot, I cant walk or breath normally, it doesnt hurt only when I lay down and dont move. Do you know about some medications that could help me? It started 10 days ago, do you know how long is it going to last? Thank you very much.

1. Since the said condition occurs from excessive and repetitive activity [such as side bending or twisting forces] causing strain of intercostal muscles leading to intense pain, muscle spasm, weakness and bruising on the side of the chest.

2. Although you are clinically examined and diagnosed but if required further investigations, like X-ray, MRI, CT Scan or ultrasound, may be required to confirm diagnosis, rule out other conditions, determine the severity of injury and monitor healing.

3. anti inflammatory + analgesic combination [combiflam], and muscle relaxant alone or with a NSAIDs is sufficient and to return gradually to day to day activity 'physiotherapy' is ideal [massage, postural taping, exercises to improve strength, flexibility and posture.
