Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
my inner left ankle became inflamed after catching what appeared to be The Chikengunya virus. It has puss coming out of two breaks in the skin that was not previously there.I have had no previous injury to my ankle.I do however have varicose veins on my right leg and from time to time I ulcers on the lower portion just above the ankle.
You have not mention your age and this is first or recurrent attack of Chikungunya. Inflammation is most common complication of Chikungunlya associated with fever with or without rashes, body ache, swelling etc. Pus may be due to severe inflammation and infection at the ankle due to injury or infection of unknown varicose vein.
There is no specific medicine or vaccine for Chikungunya fever or viral disease. Take plenty of fluids. Don't take aspirin. Take paracetamol for pain, headache, fever and joint pains. Do the dressing regularly with aseptic precaution and take antibiotics for infection and inflammation to resolve. For that consult your physician.
Hope you are satisfied. Take care...
