I have a infection on my left hand, I just had one clear up about 30 days ago. It is on top of my hand in the tissue between my index finger and thumb. It starts out with a scab that starts showing a little white ring around the out side of scab, within 24 hours it develops into a nasty full on infection, with white puss in the middle and a bright red ring on outer edge and a large area of skin that is red and inflamed. Fells hot to the touch. Last time I did have a red line traveling up my arm!
I can understand your concern for infection on your left hand.
It appears from your query that you have developed a deep seated infection of the tissue between index finger and thumb which got inflamed.
I suggest you to clean the area properly with soap and water to remove any debris and dead tissues. In such cases a proper antibiotic therapy is very much required along with anti-inflammatory drugs. I go for culture and sensitivity of pus in all your kind of cases and then prescribe the antibiotic accordingly.
In my patients I prefer to give higher antibiotic with Amoxycillin and clavulinic acid or cefixime with clavulinic acid in proper dose.
I also sugget to apply an antibiotic cream containing mupirocin or gentamycin in it. If at all the lesion is not healing then you must visit a doctor to look for exact causes of the non healing.
All the best
