I have hives on my chest that began about 3 years ago. A dermatologist said they are harmless and not to worry about them. She said it is quite common in older men. My family Dr. thought it might be a reaction to ordinarily the np med. She switched me to another np drug 2 years ago, but it is still there. Any thoughts on what might be the cause?
Hi. As per your case history of urticaria, my treatment advice is - 1. Avoid fast food and food with artificial colors for 2 months. 2. Apply a soothing lotion like calamine lotion on affected region twice daily. 3. Take an antihistamine medication like levocetrizine twice daily for 7-10 days. 4. Other treatment options are oral hydroxyzine, oral steroid taken only after consulting a dermatologist.
Thanks. Dr. Harshit bhachech. MBBS, DDVL.
