Hello Dr - was diagnosed with bursitis in right shoulder & hip approx. 5 yrs ago - recent ultrasound shows bursitis no longer in hip - however continue to suffer pain in right hip, keeps me awake at night, anti-inflammatory help somewhat but pain continues when I stop taking them. Also suffering pain in right buttock (assume sciatica). Need to continue Tai Chi maybe take up swimming, try acupuncture or physiotherapy. Any advice you can add to this would be most appreciated.

Hello,

Hip pain and shoulders pain may be due to hypothyroidism, diabetes, connective tissue disorders, infections etc. It may be a simple problem like bursitis or tendinitis.

Use cold and warm compression, do physical therapy. Use NSAIDS, if necessary. If symptoms don't improve, please consult your doctor, he will examine and take MRI then treat you accordingly.

Take care.

Regards,
