A patient has a history of prostatomegaly and his urinalysis shows ++ haematuria. Taking into consideration his age (41yrs) and presenting symptoms who would he need a referral to, what possible tests may be performed and what would the first treatment options be, what tests would be required.
Hi The patient needs referral to an urologist. He will need to have an urine analysis, renal function test-creatinine, PSA blood test, ultrasound of urinary tract with measurement of post void residual urine, possibly uroflometry and cystoscopy. If he has symptoms from prostate enlargement then he is likely to require medications called alpha blockers first.
