Suggest Treatment For High Blood Pressure
metoprolol Succ ER 50 mg, my husband has decided, since his bp was high 200/130, he has taken more than perscribed. He took 25mg this morning and another 25mg 11am and just took 50mg at 6:30 - his bp was 163/102 at 6:30 what should I be watching for now that he is a big dummy head

Taking a higher than usual dosage of metoprolol raises concerns both for his blood pressure and his heart rate. I would consider a low heart rate as the most important danger right now.
Metoprolol slows the heart down. If you take too much of it then the heart rate may decrease to dangerous levels (less than 40-45 beats per minute) and result in faintness or syncope.
His blood pressure may also get to lower levels but since he had a 200/130 this is not very likely. 163/102 is not OK, but it's acceptable for a short while.
To sum it up, he has to check the blood pressure and heart rate vigorously. If his heart rate drops below 45 beats per minute or if he has faintness then the urgent medical assessment would be required.
