Suggest Treatment For High BP Readings While On Amlodipine

I have been taking Tamsulosin (0.4mg) for over 1 year. Today my doctor prescribed amlodipine (2.5mg) for high blood pressure. I am 64 year old male in overall good health. My BP today was unusually high 170/90, but has been trending higher in the last year, e.g., 145/90. what should I expect?

amlodipine 2.5 mg is the smallest dose, so we usually give a trial for one or two days then we can double the dose if blood pressure not normalised to less than 140/90.
maximum dose is 10 mg daily
