Suggest Treatment For Heart Palpitations And Panic Attacks
Hello, I started having heart palpitations a few months back, I used to smoke and drink a lot but I stopped for almost 2 months. Had an eco and two ecg s done all ok but the panic attacks keep coming and I was placed on propanonol and stop after I felt I was better and after a few weeks now my bp cud be normal in the morning 120/80 and suddenly goes up to 150/120 in hours and go back down again. What could be happening
While propranolol can help control some of the symptoms caused by panic attacks (rapid heart rate, elevated blood pressure), it doesn't actually treat the underlying anxiety that causes panic attacks. For that a medication such as in the SSRI family of antidepressants can help. If your blood pressure is going up that high, please talk with your doctor as you likely need to take either the propranolol or other antihypertensive all the time, or at least until you get the anxiety under control with a medication as I described above. Good luck, there is help for this.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Bonnie Berger-Durnbaugh, General & Family Physician
