Suggest Treatment For Headaches

I have been getting headaches for the last 2 weeks on the left side of my head occasional behind my eye and on the left side of my face. They are intermittent and usually are triggered when I talk a lot and am active at work. Sometimes change in weather will cause the headaches.

Psychiatrist 's  Response
Hello thanks for asking

Headache occurring on one side of head associated with pain in eyes or pain on one side of face could occur due to migraine or due to chronic tension type headache (CTTH). Usually migraine is throbbing or pulsatile type of headache that get aggravated with noise, excess mental tension, or bright lights. The headache usually occur on one side of head. Tension headache can also present with heaviness of head on one side and triggered by excess mental stress. I would advise you to consult a neuropsychiatrist for expert opinion.

Medicines like Amitryptiline, Nortryptiline are very useful in headache. For symptomatic relief medicines like Paracetamol, Ibuprofen have good results. Propranolol have also excellent results in prophylaxis against migraine.

Avoid excess tea, coffee or smoking to decrease headache. Relaxation exercises will also help in early recovery.

Thanks
