Hello. Thanks for asking from HCM.

I can understand your concern. The cold can cause headache. It occurs because of blockade of air sinus opening in nose. To treat headache, nose must be treated.

As now you are staying in cold environment, you have to follow few tips to get relief

: Avoid direct contact with cool air
: Preferably cover your nose if you ride bike
: You can take steam four times daily
: Drink warm or hot beverages like tea/coffee
: Exercise daily, it will enhance your immunity
: For nasal blockade, you can take combination of Paracetamol-Cetrizine-Xylometazoline after proper prescription
: You should take antibiotic course like Co-amoxyclav therapy after proper prescription
: If you are having deviated nasal septum(DNS) or no relief or recurrent infection, you should consult ENT specialist. He will examine your nose to rule out DNS or chronic sinusitis. Further treatment will be decided after confirming diagnosis.

Hope it will help you. Thanks.

Take care.

Hi Hari, thanks for asking form HCM.

I can understand your concern. In cold environment, a person who is not acclimatised may develop repeated common cold/rhinitis (nasal infection) or sinusitis. All these are upper respiratory tract infection and may also occur due to allergy. You can observe signs of allergy like sneezing/itching after exposure to dust/chemicals/smoke/gases etc. If you find so, avoid that particular substance.

Another reason is infection. To manage it, you can follow few tips

: Avoid direct contact with cool breeze. You can use mask while going out/driving bike
: Avoid cold food/drinks.
: Increase uptake of warm/hot food/tea/coffee.
: Warm saline gargles if sore throat
: Warm saline nasal dos 4-5 times daily to open nose.
: You can take Tab Cetrizine-Xylometazoline-Paracetamol combination after proper prescription
: You can take antibiotic therapy like Co-amoxyclav therapy after proper prescription.
: Steam inhalation 4-6 times daily
: Still no relief, consult ENT specialist for chronic sinusitis/deviated nasal septum or allergy. He will examine your nose, oral cavity and do some investigations like hemogram/IgE level/X ray of sinuses to confirm diagnosis. Further treatment will be given after confirmation.

hope it will help you. Thanks. Take care.
Still in doubt, you can ask another question.
