Suggest Treatment For Hard Stools With Upper Abdominal Pain

I am 20yrs old and female. Two weeks ago I started having upper abdominal pain (cramp like and intermittent) and bloating. Within two days my BMs stopped. Ive tried fiber, enemas, milk of magnesia, suppositories, and mirilax and have had only small soft lumps of green stool about the size a marble, about once every 1--3 days. It is very hard for me to evacuate even this small amount. I've had blood tests (bmp, cbc) 2 sets of xrays, and 2 urine tests and no one can find anything wrong. Is this just constipation or something more?

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you are having hard stools with upper abdominal pain which is most probably due to all of the changes taking place in your body such as electrolyte imbalance. However, it could be due to an illness gastritis or IBS. But in your case the symptoms are probably due constipation. I would suggest you to get up slowly and do not lie down right after eating , eat small meals or snacks often ,try not to skip meals. You should eat cold food instead of hot, eat lot of fibrous food like fresh vegetables abd fruits or ginger can sometimes help an upset stomach , eating salty potato chips can help settle the stomach enough to eat a meal . If condition doesn't get better in 2-3 days the consult gastroenterologist for proper examination . Doctor may prescribe laxative , anaspas , omeprazole or antacid .

Hope your concern has been resolved.
