Suggest Treatment For Hard Bumps Under The Tongue

Hi, I am an 18 year old female who noticed today that there were many fairly large bumps on the very back of my tongue, extending until I could no longer see down my throat. These bumps are basically the same color as my tongue, and they are completely painless. I also noticed that my right tonsil seems slightly swollen compared to my left. I only noticed this because of a slightly strange taste in my mouth (I don t know how to describe it), and earlier there seemed to be a tiny bit of whitish film on these bumps, but I brushed it off with a toothbrush and it has not returned so I m not sure if this was a symptom. I am not a smoker and remain pretty well hydrated, but I have given oral sex to a few partners recently and I m worried that this could be some sort of STD. I am on the antibiotic Trimethoprim for my skin, which has led to a recent yeast infection that I am currently treating.

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have hard bumps under the tongue which are causing difficulty in swallowing could be due to swelling of swelling gland, salivary stone at base of tongue mainly submandibular gland, peritonsillar abscess. I would suggest you to consult ENT specialist for proper examination. Apply anti-fungal ointment and do nystatin suspensions. Doctor may order blood test , throat swab test along with other test . Doctor may prescribe antibiotics ( amoxicillin and penicillin ) at least for 10 days along with vitamin supplements to boost the immunity. Maintain oral hygiene. Drink plenty of water. You should start treatment after proper diagnosis.

Hope your concern has been resolved.
