Suggest Treatment For Hair Loss When Diagnosed With Hypothyroidism

Hi Doctor. I am 34 years old. Since last 4 months I am facing severe hair fall. It s as bad as I have lost 70% of my hairs.. I am having follow hair and VB7 forte and applying scalpe lotion twice a week. But there are no results. I was also diagnosed with borderline thyroid but the second thyroid report was clear. Is the medication correct. Do I need to add or change any medicine? My work life is very hectic and bit stressful.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

It's common to have hair fall in hypothyroidism. I advise you to check your Free T3, Free T4, TSH and if its hypothyroidism you can start your medication T. Eltroxin initially with your physician advise. I also suggest you avoid cauliflower, broccoli-like foods.
Your corrected thyroid hormones will reduce your hair fall, if still, symptoms persist I advise you to consult a dermatologist.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Indhu Priyadharshini, General & Family Physician
