Suggest Treatment For Genital Herpes

I m 49 years old and have genital herpes. I am in relatively good health but recently I have been experience mild cramps and tenderness in the breasts. I took a pregnancy test and it was negative. I have been in a monogamous relationship with the same man and have never strayed. Could I be going to perimenopause or is it part of having genital herpes? Please help me. Sonni

Hi, thanks for sharing your health concerns with HCM!

If I were your treating Doctor for this case of suspected genital herpes, I would just request you to confirm it by blood tests and smear examination from the vesicles / lesions if any! It is very easy to diagnose and also treat it! Oral or intravenous acyclovir 5 to 8 times a day for 7 to 10 days along with supportive medicines / nutrition is adequate!

Herpes generally flares up when your immunity is low; it could be perimenopausal but not always related to polygamous relationship!

Hope this answers your question. If you have additional questions or follow up questions then please do not hesitate in writing to us. I will be happy to answer your questions.

Wishing you good health.
