Suggest Treatment For Gastritis

How does one calm an irritated stomach? One that has been aggravated with too much prescribed medication for too long? My sister is in the hospital with an inflamed stomach lining and cannot tolerate food. This is for over a month. In hospital 3 weeks.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Till she is in the hospital she will be given medications & required nutrition by Enteral & Parenteral routes, so you need not worry. She should strictly take all the medications as prescribed.

She should avoid oily, spicy food, food to which she is allergic, avoid all pain killers & addictions if any, take plenty of water & boiled home made food. Stay away from stress, take fruits & veggies.

PPIs like (Rabeprazole), acid blockers (Famotidine), antacids, antibiotics like Augmentin effectively reduce discomfort due to gastritis. Take all medications under PCP.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Nupur K,
