Suggest Treatment For Gall Blader Stones

Over the fall and winter of 2014 to present I have had problems that led my primary Dr. to send me for an ultrasound they found small stones/or polyps, they have set me up to have my gallbladder removed. My question is that I suffer from GI problems of the stomach and have for years, I have taken 30mg previcid for 15 years. Just had a scope and my GE Dr. said I have barretts esoph. but not cancer. Knowing all my stomach problems I am concerned I am having an operation I don t need that will not fix the problem. I have been feeling ok overall and had a few symptons lately. What is the opinion on if I should go through with the gallbladder removal.

Good morning
Sorry to hear about your illhealth
Gallstones which are not causing pain in the upper abdomen can be left for periodic observation irrespective of size and number

But before that, I would like to confirm whether it is a polyp or stone in gallbladder (because you mentioned both in your report)
Gallstones cannot to be attributed for vague abdominal complaints, dyspepsia or acidity and reflux symptoms.
There are few indications for surgery in asymptomatic gallstones: person who lives in an area remote to medical care facilities, who live in chile and bolivia due to high risk of cancer, who had previous organ transplantation, who is elderly with type 1 diabetes, pocelain GB. Otherwise in rest of the people it can be left untouched
on the other hand, if its a polyp, I would recommend removal of gallbladder if they are more than 1 cm size.

Hope this would answer your question
Wish you a speedy recovery
