There are few indications for surgery in asymptomatic gallstones: person who lives in an area remote to medical care facilities, who live in chile and bolivia due to high risk of cancer, who had previous organ transplantation, who is elderly with type 1 diabetes, pocelain GB. Otherwise in rest of the people it can be left untouched on the other hand, if its a polyp, I would recommend removal of gallbladder if they are more than 1 cm size.
