Suggest Treatment For Fluctuations In TSH Levels

Hello. I was born congenital Hypothyroid. I ve been on a prescription of levothyroxine since i was 3 weeks old. I m 32 years old right now. This year has been crazy for me, because my TSH levels have been all over the place and I ve experience A LOT of the symptoms of having a low functioning thyroid. I consult with an Endocrinology CNP but I m interested to ask an M.D. (or D.O.) Endocrinologist some questions.

Hello,

You are taking the right treatment for your illness. However your dose needs to be adjusted for your symptoms and biochemical levels of TSH. I need to know how much thyroxine are you currently taking and if you have any symptoms or so. You need to gradually taper your dose of thyroxine with a 6 weekly follow-up with your TSH levels.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Sameen Bin Naeem, General & Family Physician
