Suggest Treatment For Flatulence And Muscle Weakness

An 89 year old man on many different medications in relatively good health but slightly anemic and cannot put weight on. Down to 120 lbs and has 4-7 bowel movements a day. Food seems to go right through. Good appetite and no previous GI issues. Has flatulence and needs direction as to diet or medicine to maintain current body weight. Would certain medicines cause extra bowel movements or is it age related muscle weakness. Energy level is low probably because food intake is not being absorbed properly.Any dietary advice would be helpful.
