I have a flap of skin? at the upper back of my throat. It is not behind the tongue but back of the roof of my mouth. In trying to clear my sore throat, it feels like this object wants to come out but doesn t. I ve had blood clots in that area after a bloody nose but this doesn t seem to be coagulated blood. I ve had my tonsils out, do snore and am 70 years old. Any thoughts?

Hi,
Thanks for asking.
Based on your query, my opinion is as follows.
1. I think you are possibly thinking of the uvula.
2. Its a flap of soft tissue. It is helpful in speech.
3. It is in the area of connection of nasopharynx with the oral cavity. So any bloody nose, blood can get coagulated there.
4. For snoring, you need to get into comfortable position, like removing pillow, etc. Sleep study would be necessary to evaluate. Abnormal sleep can cause cardiac complications, meet your doctor for tests.
Hope it helps.
Any further queries, happy to help again.
