almost three weeks ago I developed a fever, (101.0), chills, headache, the next day i developed a dry cough. Next day I went to Urgent care where I tested neg for flu and strep. CBC was normal. No meds prescribed at that time. Was asked to stay home for next few days. Three days later went back to Urgent care. Cough was worse fever still low grade, headache was worse especially when coughing. O2 level was down at first check. At that time I was placed on Cefdinar for sinus infection. Was offered Benzonatante for cough but have had allergic reaction in past. Was told to take Robitussin for cough. The following week I returned to regular Dr for re-check per Urgent Cares request. Layrigitis was the most prominent issue along with the dry cough. Was told to continue on Antibiotic and Robitussin DM. I finished the last of the antibiotic on Monday of last week but still had the dry cough. At times I would cough so hard but nothing would come up. Last Friday while at work I started coughing so hard I would lose my breath. Went back to regular Dr. on Monday. He started me on a different antibiotic (Doxycycline Hyclate) still with continued use of Robitussin DM. The cough became much more productive. As of yesterday, my cough is still present, productive but I have developed somewhat symmetrical hives/welts. Welts first appeared on my ears. I called my dr. who stated he did not think welts were from the cough syrup or antibiotic. Today welts have spread to tops of shoulders, back of forearms, hills of hands, under buttocks, above knees. again the welts seem to appear at the same time on both sides of my body. Welts seem to be predominantly located at body joints. Should I continue with the antibiotic and cough syrup? Are the welts related to the meds or the illness, cough etc.
