Suggest Treatment For Fatty Liver And Heartburn

Hi. I am 20 years old about a year ago I started feeling heartburn in my chest for the first time ever in my entire life and since then I have been put through a series of proton inhibitors each one making me feel just as bad if not worse than the last. I have been done every tested for diabetes. At the time this first occurred I was going to the gym everyday for three hours and had dance. Lasses everyday for six hours. I recently had an ultrasound of my abdomen done to look for gallstones but what they found instead was a 16.5 cm liver and fatty metamorphosis of the liver I just wanted to understand what that means?

Hi & Welcome to HCM.
You seem to have developed fatty liver.
It's a very common disorder and refers to a group of conditions where there is accumulation of excess fat in the liver.
The most common cause of fatty liver is alcoholism and heavy drinking. However, it can also occur in non alcoholics as well.
It develops when the body creates too much fat or cannot metabolize fat fast enough. The excess fat is stored in liver cells where it accumulates to form fatty liver disease.
Eating a high-fat diet may not directly result in fatty liver.
There isn’t a medication or surgery to treat fatty liver. You need to have certain lifestyle changes like:
1. The first line of treatment is usually weight loss through a combination of a healthy diet and exercise. Losing weight addresses the conditions that contribute to nonalcoholic fatty liver disease. Ideally, a loss of 10 percent of body weight is desirable, but improvement in risk factors can become apparent if you lose even three to five percent of your starting weight.
2. Avoiding alcoholic beverages if you are drinking
3. Managing your cholesterol
4. Reducing the intake fatty meals and sweets.

The heartburn can be prevented by avoiding hot and spicy foods, coffee, carbonated soft drinks, chocolates, taking soft diet like rice and curd at night, having an early dinner and going to the bed after 2-3 hours.

Hope the suggestions given above would benefit you.
