Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi, I am worried that I am under extreme emotional stress due to recent separation from a 30 yr marriage I now live alone. I am 56, I also take Immovane and Remeron. I have been on these meds for 17 years.
Hello thanks for asking from HCM for your health related queries
I can understand your concern. You are already on antidepressants since last 17 years and your symptoms are persisting because of recent divorce. A lot of individuals do good on chronic antidepressant therapy but develop symptoms aggravation because of some emotional trauma. You have also complaints of black out in last 2 months so all these symptoms shouldn't be ignored. Consult your psychiatrist again for reevaluation. Increase in doses of Remerol or Mirtazapine is one good option. Other treatment option is to visit a counsellor or a psychologist for help. Relaxation exercises like Progressive Muscle Relaxation Exercises, Breathing exercises coupled with counselling would help you to pass that bad phase of life. Continue to take medicines and visit a doctor for help.
Thanks, I hope this helps you. Take care
