Suggest Treatment For Extreme Agoraphobia

I have a history of agoraphobia and a diagnosis but have recently moved to a new state. I do not work and have no real reason to leave the house. Lately my agoraphobia has gotten worse as I do not want to leave the house for any reason; to even go to the gym, grocery store, or shopping. I have also been having insomnia and nightmares when I do sleep. I do not currently take any medications. I know I need to see a doctor but am afraid that I will not get the care I need because I have no insurance or I don t want to get labeled as something negative. My symptoms are out of control and ruining my life. Please help. Any advice or suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Addiction Medicine Specialist 's  Response
Hi,

Cognitive behavioral therapy is the usual method of treatment there are drugs that can help but the CBT actually removes the problem. I cannot say in your particular case, but generally.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Matt Wachsman, Addiction Medicine Specialist
