Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
On my right side of my neck right below my ear there is a large hard lump from base of my skull to my jaw. Near the SCM muscle. I have lots of war pressure on that side. When I move my head forward the hard lump pops out. If I lean my head to the side I can barley feel the lump. Can a SCM muscle cause a lump next to it? The first person I saw at urgent care said swollen lymph node prescribed me medicine for 10 days. Go for a follow up with my docotor office (not my regular dr) and she says she feels nothing. My chirpractor feels it. Then I finally see my regular dr and she feels it and says its my muscle. How does she know?? I had an ultrasound of my neck on that side and they said there is no enlarged lymph nodes or masses?? I have anxiety over what it can be. Could this be because of the SCM muscle all though when I look forward it feels next to it? It s a very hard lump.
It could be a reactive lymph node only. You can start a short course of antibiotics empirically. Consult a general surgeon and plan for an FNAC to make a diagnosis.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
