Suggest Treatment For Elevated TSH Levels

My fiancé is currently going on 12 weeks pregnant. Her TSH was checked today and it is 7.4 which I know is quite high. She is already on Levothyroxine because hyperthyroidism was a condition she had before pregnancy. Will her medication need to be increased, and how pressing is the issue of getting it corrected?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

It is important to have normal thyroid hormone levels because this hormone plays a part in the development of the baby.

Her doctor would likely consider adjusting her dose of levothyroxine to try and get the values of the hormones to normalize.

I hope this helps
