Suggest Treatment For Eczema On Legs And Ankles

I have had severe exzema on legs and ankles for several years and now it is a rash spreading on my waist and back. for several years doctors have given me prednisone and clobetizal ointment and it helps a little, but not for long and never actually clears up. The itching is severe and wakes me up at night. and days I keep trying different lotions and salves, but nothing actually helps. I heard of one called prevaclear. where can I buy this medicine or one that can help. I heard that exzema is caused from within the body and not the skin but it definitely is affecting my skin.!!

Dermatologist 's  Response
Hi.
As per your case history of eczema, my treatment advice is -
1. Don't scratch the lesion as it may worsen the condition.
2. Apply an emollient cream like Enmoist cream twice daily on affected skin.
3. Apply a potent steroid cream like Halobetasol cream twice daily on it.
4. Take a vitamin A supplement once daily and levocetrizine twice daily for 3 months.

There is recurrence in winter season. So sproper use of creams during winter will prevent discomfort.

Thanks.
