Suggest Treatment For Ear Infection While On Cefalexin

Hi! I m 41 years old I am 8 weeks and six days pregnant now. I had 2 miscarriages last year. Doctor told me I have UTI and ear infection. Doctor prescibed cefalexin to treat it. I just want to know if the pain I am experiencing on my lower abdomen is related to my UTI or any other problem?

Hello,

UTI can cause low abdominal pain and other conditions can cause similar pain as well. Pregnant women are at increased risk for UTI. The best way to know if the pain you are experiencing is from UTI or not is to have a urinalysis and a urine culture. According to the results, the doctor can decide if this is an infection or not.
If bleeding happens then a complication with the pregnancy should be considered and having your blood BHCG checked and transvaginal ultrasound is mandatory to rule out an ectopic pregnancy.

I hope this answers your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
