Hi, i was dressing up for my son and he accidentally dipped cotton bud deep into left ear. I felt sharp pain which lasted about 5 minutes. The reduced verily but could still have lil sensation of it so i decided to lay on my left with the ear rested on pillow. Now i tried to check the pain by carefully dipping clean bud and i was scared to see blood around the mid cotton of the bud. Please what s the situation with my ear?
It looks like there is an injury to the eardrum or eardrum perforation due to dipping of the earbud deep into the ear.
You should immediately consult an ENT physician and get evaluated. A clinical examination and an Otoscopy can be done to check the tympanic membrane or the eardrum.
If the perforation is small, then it will heal gradually on its own. You need to put antibiotic ear drops to avoid infection. But in case if the perforation is large, then Tympanoplasty, surgical repair of eardrum has to be done.
Also avoid excessive exposure to water like swimming, diving and also avoid sudden exposure to large sounds.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
