Suggest Treatment For Dizziness
My husband is 80 years old. He has fainted one time last Saturday 32/28/15. Today he felt dizzy and he fell again. I took him to Urgent Care and the Dr there checked his blood for Diabetis, checked his Himglobins, gave him an EKG for his heart. Everything came out find. Do you have any suggestion as to why it can be happening?

Thre are different possible causes: (1) it can be related to the heart such as an abnormal rhythm, if he gives a history of experiencing palpitations at the time of the episodes , he may want to consider a holter which is essentially a 24 hour ECG
If he was not having palpitations at the time of the single ECG, may not show any changes
(2)blood tests to check electrolyte levels
(3)an EEG to see brain waves to rule out epilepsy
(4)check blood pressure standing and sitting to see of the blood pressure drops on standing which may cause fainting
It would be best to visit his doctor for a review

Hello Mam. Is he on any BP medications. If so, some could cause light headedness. The other cause could be related to the circulation to the brain. A bilateral carotid artery doppler could help. Fainting episodes / syncopal episodes are common in patients with a decreased circulation to the brain due to narrowing of blood vessels at the neck. It could be a forerunner for stroke. since ekg/sugar and vital parameters were all within normal limits than i think it was a syncopal attack as it is very common or it may be a transient ischaemic attack also.
i suggest you to go through a full battery of tests and revert back.
