sir/mam,
i'm 19 years old. some months ago i used to experience some sort of locking in the right side of my mouth...and couldnt open the mouth fully,specially in the morning.i could open it forcefully with some pain & a 'tik' sound. but it was never permanent. now two days ago my mouth is not open-able fully. i suffer from pain while eating as food doesnt fit properly in the gap

Thanks for your query, I have gone through your query.
The limited mouth opening and pain could be because of the bruxism, trauma or maloclusion leading to disc displacement in the Temporomandibular joint.
Consult a oral physician and get it diagnosed. You can stop using the splints for few days. You can take anti inflammatory drugs like piroxicam 20mg twice daily on first day and twice daily on next 6 days. You can also take muscle relaxants like chlorzoxazone. You can give hot fomentation over the joints. Do not eat hard things, do not open your mouth too wide. take soft diet.
If all these things does not work, then you can use soft splints or you can go for arthocetesis or joint lavage with saline or autologous blood.
