Suggest Treatment For Diarrhea, Headaches And Fever

I have had acute Diarrhea for 5 days. I recently developed a low grade fever, fatigue, headache (probably due to dehydration), nasal congestion, and white bumps on the back of my tongue that do not hurt. No vomiting or nausea. My glands are also swollen, however they have been swollen for a couple of months after being diagnosed and treated with both strep and tonsilitis.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Based on the history you have shared, you may need to have stool analysis and blood counts to look for infective etiology and not due to recent antibiotics usage. However using probiotics, alongside metronidazole may be needed.

Fluid and oral rehydration salts intake is a must to replenish lost salts and electrolytes. Soft diets meanwhile are recommended. The throat and tongue may be examined by an ENT specialist and oral thrush or persistent staph or strep infections needs to be ruled out.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Saddiq Ulabidin, General & Family Physician
