Suggest Treatment For Depression

I am feeling intensely depressed for a few days. I am even thinking in a very negative way about myself. What should I do? I think I am losing contact with reality. I am unemployed and that's making things worse. I am fearing I might end my life by suicide.

Psychiatrist 's  Response
Hi,

I can understand your distress that you might be having. You definitely seem to be suffering from depressive episode and considering the fact that you are talking about suicide, I am extremely concerned.

I would suggest you immediately talk to your family members regarding your symptoms including that of suicidal ideas and seek a psychiatric consultation. Your condition is highly amenable to treatment. So, I would suggest you not to lose hope and believe in yourself.

Treatment with anti-depressants is safe and effective in your condition. Medications like escitalopram, and venlafaxine can be used for depression.

Hope you get well soon. Best wishes.
