Suggest Treatment For Depression And Arthritis

I am 68 and having a numb right leg; first shot in back L-5 for scoliocis, bone spurs, stenosis, loss of 4 inches in height and much arthritis. The second shot didn t work so dr. is prescribing the drug I am checking on-Amitripyline for the numbness and bad pain as the day progresses. Gabpentin was previous drug prescribed, makes me too lethargic. I am worried because it is for depression and I m not depressed; love life and working our small farm. Bonnie

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,
Thank you for trusting HealthcareMagic

Amitryptline is not only an antidepressant, but also a very good medication for treating nerve pain.
Since you are having side effects while on Gabapentin, amytriptiline is a very good choice.

Hope this answers your question
