Suggest Treatment For Depression And Anxiety

For the past 6 months or so, my 20 year old daughter has been experiencing depression, anxiety, mood swings, etc. She can!t explain why she feels this way. She is scared that she will never be herself again. She cut her wrists a few months ago, although not severely. She is a straight A honors student in college? All of her life she has had confidence in herself and been a perfectly normal happy girl. She also has developed bruise all over he body, but we had this checked out with blood work and no problems were discovered.
I am wondering if being on birth control pills has something to do with what is going on since this all started when she started on the pill.
Io am really concerned for her mental Heath. Your opinion would be greatly appreciated.

I can understand your concern. She is 20 years old and have depression, anxiety and mood swings. Her behaviour like silting wrists can't be ignored and this can be a parasuicidal behaviour. Such persons with history of depression are at risk of development of depression. She has also developed bruise all over body and this should also be evaluated. Please take her to a psychiatrist for treatment and evaluation of her symptoms.

In depression and anxiety medicinal and non medicinal treatment both are used. Combination treatment results in early recovery. Medicines like SSRIs as Fluoxetine, Citalopram, Escitalopram etc are used. Cognitive therapy is a good non-medicinal treatment. Please visit a psychiatrist for her treatment.
