Suggest Treatment For Deafness Due To Catarrh In Ear

Afflicted with a chronic build-up of catarrh in the middle ear for more than a decade with prominent deafness, but also temporary relief at times. Unless I blow my ears under great pressure by blocking the nose, the ears tend to be clogged up rather perpetually... with great embarrassment when I m supposed to listen and hear. I m aware of incision to be effectuated behind the ears or the alternative method used on children to drain catarrh. Is there any alternative to these like H2O2 or the use of colloidal silver? Thank you for your reply. Fred Martin

Hi..

Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain it seems that you are suffering from blocked eustachian tube along with fluid accumulation behind the eardrum and it is leading to clogged feeling along with loss of hearing..

In case if it has not improved within a decade even then I do not think that you can simply improve the hearing and open up your ears by blowing the nose..

I would suggest you to consult an Otolaryngologist and get evaluated and a thorough clinical evaluation and investigations like otoscopy, Audiometry, x-ray,MRI scan can help in diagnosis and treatment can be done accordingly..

You can be advised a course of antibiotics, and decongestants like oral Phenylephrine and Xylometazoline spray..
Do steam inahalation..
In case if still does not work then surgical drainage of ears by putting an incision through the ear drum can help..
Pressure equalization tubes can also be acvised..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards.
