Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hello, I woke with moderate uvulitis. I assumed it was allergy related and took Claritin this morning to no avail. Having read the NSAIDS are a potential cause, I had been taking 2 Advils every four hours for about 2 1/2 days. This was to alleviate a cramping muscle near my right scapula which was affecting my neck and right arm. This symptom is waning as I am getting better. I stopped the Advil (last dose was last night). I am on a PPI (pantaprozole). How do I treat the uvula back to it s normal size? Is this likely to get worse or better on it s own if I do nothing (except stop Advil)?
Good day and thanks for the question. You are right about stopping the Advil because Advils could cause it (it causes neutopenia such that your white cells that fight infections are reduced). Your uvula should return back to normal after stopping the Advil. Next time you have pains please use Acetaminophen 1g 4 times daily instead of Advil. Hope it helps. Thank you.
