Suggest Treatment For Cough, Sore Throat And Vomiting

I have been coughing with a sore throat x 4 days, today I gagged while coughing and threw up. I could see dinner bits but there was a nickel sized chunk that looked like raw meat about the color and texture, very red. I had some thinly sliced meat with noodles and teriyaki sauce today, didn t really look like what I had been eating. Should I be concerned? Thanks!

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have cough, sore throat and vomiting which is due to severe upper respiratory tract infection and it could be due to granular pharyngitis/ bronchitis , asthma , acid reflux or allergic reaction.

I would suggest visit ENT specialist once and get it examined. You should get chest X-ray and pulmonary function tests done to check extent of infection and start treatment accordingly. Do warm saline gargles and betadine gargles alternatively .

You should avoid cold liquids and spicy food. You take nasal decongestant sprays, Antihistamines and antibiotic combination as infection is present. Co amoxiclav along with cetrizine is recommended.

You can take Diphenhydramine . You should take steam inhalation. Avoid exposure to allergens as well. You should take some mucolytic drugs to dissolve mucus and your symptoms will be relieved. Doctor may also refer you to gastroenterologist for acid relux or allergy specialist for allergy .

Hope your concern has been resolved.
