Suggest Treatment For Cough And Chest Congestion

Thanks, I have panic attacks....I am VERY sensitive to medication and avoid it as best I can. I have a bad bronchial cough now. I am on amoxicillin but need something to break up the mucus in my chest. I know I cannot take a decongestant....I am at a loss of what to do? Is there anything besides herbs and a vaporizer to help? Thank you so much!!! Joni

Pulmonologist 's  Response
Thanks for your question on HCM.
In my opinion you should take mucolytic and expectorant drugs.
It will loosen the mucus of lungs and make it easy for expectoration.
Besides drugs, you can start chest physiotherapy and deep breathing exercise as both these can improve lung function and help in removing mucus.
For all these , you need to consult pulmonologist.
You may need chest x ray to rule out lower respiratory tract infection (LRTI) if not improved in 5-6 days.
So better to consult pulmonologist and discuss all these.
