Suggest Treatment For Constipation

Hi I went to the emergency room yesterday afternoon because I have not been able to have a bowel movement for 2 -3 days. They did a CT scan and all the blood work for a possible bowel obstruction. They said to take Citrate of Magnesia which I did at 6 pm. It is not 9:30 am and nothing has moved. I have bowel sounds and gurgling. I have passed gas a few times but my abdomen is VERY distended and hurts. Should I return to the ER or should I just wait it out. The distension did go down in the middle of the night after I passed some gas. Thank you.

hi
when you have been prerscribed only milk of magnesia,it canbe gaseous distention.no obstruction
you can repeat the dose once again
if still theproblem persists go ahead with laxatives like lactulose and prokinetics milder in action like domperidone added with ppi`s like pantoprazole.
if not working you can go the ER EITHER FOR SUPPOSITORY PRESCRIPTION OR ENEMA
ALL THE BEST
