Suggest Treatment For Constipation And Frequent Urination

Hello Dr., I have been taking Oxybutynin Cl ER 5mg. When I m asleep I wake 3 or 4 times to urinate. Could recommend a different or stronger dosage, or take the medication at a different time of day? I am then finding myself constipated , only able to move my bowl 2 times a week, if that.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Your symptoms seem to be related to constipation due to the use of Oxybutynin. This is a very common side effect of this medication.

I recommend using over the counter laxative such as Miralax. If the symptoms continue, I recommend to consult your doctor for an alternative dose of Oxybutynin.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi, General & Family Physician
