Suggest Treatment For Constipation After Shoulder Surgery

My husband has had shoulder surgery two weeks ago. He has a script for endone 5 mg and has been taking 2 every 4 hrs. He was also on Panadeine Forte 6 hrly but has since stopped taking them because of constipation. He ran out and only took one and has had some nausea and chills he would like to cut down and was thinking of having nurofen plus and one endone only not sure of whether this is a good idea and whether they can be taken together ?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

Prolonged immobilization after major surgery can lead to constipation. As a first line management, you can take laxatives like cremaffin or lactulose for symptomatic relief.
If symptoms persist better to consult a physician and get evaluated.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
