Suggest Treatment For Constipation, Abdominal Pain And Back Pain

I have abdominal pain and it seems to be radiating up into my chest. I also seem to have a tinge of pain in my upper back. None of this pain lasts long and it comes and goes. I m constipated pretty badly and I m thinking that I have IBS or acid reflux. It started last week. I don t have any bloating. I am 45 and a female.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Constipation should be treated to reduce the symptoms. Laxatives such as lactulose can be used 15 ml at night for 3 to 5 days.

Increase fibre rich food and water intake. Ispaghula husk powder mixed with water can be taken twice a day to soften the stools by increasing the water content of the stools.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Saranya Ramadoss, General & Family Physician
