Suggest Treatment For Congested Ear Along With Crackling Sound

I have experienced ear problems,almost my entire life.I have severe allergies also.to some foods and drugs.I am a 61 year old female,I am under care for a couple of other things,but the ear issue really bothers me.My history is I had tubes,when I was age 40,but 2 days out of 7 I will have congestion,ear popping,cracking,etc.Any suggestions?

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain congestion in ear along with crackling sound and popping can be due to a common cause like Eustachian tube dysfunction and clogging can be due to fluid accumulation in the Eustachian tubes and middle ear..
As you have got ear tubes at the age of forty, there is a possibility that there has been fall of the ear tubes and there is repeated infection and fluid accumulation in the ear..
I would suggest you to consult an Otolaryngologist and get evaluated and a thorough clinical evaluation and investigations like Otoscopy can help in diagnosis and treatment can be done accordingly..
You can be advised to take a course of antibiotics, anti-inflammatory painkiller like Ibuprofen, anti allergics like Levocetrizine and decongestants oral as well as nasal spray can help..
In case if there is no resolution surgical drainage of ears and replacement of ear tubes is to b done for relief..
