Suggest Treatment For Cold Sores On The Lips

My husband had been having Ertapenem IV s everyday for six weeks almost, things taste funny to him and his has no appetite,nothing taste s good to him also he has cold sores on his lips . he had an amputation and they detected infection in what was removed so they are treating him as a precauction.

hi there.
1. your husband concern may be cheilitis.
2. there are many reasons for cheilitis ranging from viral infection to medication.
3. get HSV 1 & 2 IgG and IgM blood test done.
4. if they are negative, start using nmfe lip balm thrice daily.
5. avoid dehydration.
6. if the reports are normal plan for oral valcyclovir after consulting a dermatologist near by you.
this may help him.
