Suggest Treatment For Cold Sores On Bottom Lip When Diagnosed With Celiac Disease

Hi, I have had 2 cold sores, one after the other in a single month, and now sores behind my bottom lip and cracked in corner. I also have been diagnosed with celiac disease in November and I have adjusted my diet accordingly. Would that have anything to do with this problem?

Hello,

I do not think they are related. Cold sores do happen often especially in patients with low immunity, and if you've been in contact with infected patients. Try to apply Acyclovir cream on the sores if outside the lip, and apply glycerin of borax on the internal part of the lip. Applying cold aloe vera gel (fresh plant) can be helpful.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Albana Sejdini, General & Family Physician
