Suggest Treatment For Cold Sore On Lip

I have a cold sore on my lip, my top lip is swollen. I've had a cold sore before on the corner of my lip. This time it's on the corner and the center of my top lip, and my lip is very swollen. What should I do to treat this?

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns.

As per your complain it seems that you are suffering from viral infection caused by Herpes Simplex Virus 1 leading to Oral Herpes..
The swelling of the lip and cold sore seems to be due to viral infection only leading to inflammation..
I would suggest you to consult an Infectious Medicine Specialist and get evaluated and he can do a clinical evaluation and also test like Viral culture, antigen antibody reaction to confirm the cause and treatment can be planned accordingly..
For oral herpes he can advise you to take oral and topical antiviral medication like Acyclovir and topical Valacyclovir [Valtrex] to reduce the frequency of recurring infections as well as reduce the duration of present infection..
Also avoid intimate contact with others to prevent spread of infection..
As of now you can do cool compresses to relieve the inflammation and swelling..
You can also take Ibuprofen to reduce inflammation, swelling and discomfort..
