I started getting a really bad cold a week ago now and it keeps getting worse I have a really wet cough and a lot of mucus but now it s wierd the only way I can explain it is it s starting to taste like bleach. Does that mean anything it s even when I breath it started off with getting the taste of mucus in my mouth when I breathed or coughed and now it tastes how bleach smells
Most upper respiratory tract infections are viral but it is possible, since you are having mucus with a very abnormal taste, that you have a bacterial infection.
This would require a course of antibiotics which can be prescribed by your doctor. In addition to the antibiotics, you would need a mucolytic to help break up the mucus in your chest eg guaifenesin, bisolvan, mucomyst
Fluids, to decrease mucus thickness, would also be helpful.
I hope this helps
