Suggest Treatment For Coccyx Pain When Diagnosed With Spinal Stenosis
Hello, I was treated for spinal stenosis earlier this year. The rehab went well and I was told there could be possible symptoms due to nerve decompression for up to a year. This surgery was in early March. Since July, I now have a sharp pain at the base of my buttocks on the right leg when I stand or try to lift anything with significant weight. I radiates down the right side of the leg and burns. Also causing burning in the right calf again. After standing for a while the pain goes away as it did with the stenosis. I have been in contact with my surgeons nurse about leg pain but this is new and getting worse.
You have a history of spinal surgery, this surgery does cause numbness, weakness/pain in the back, buttocks & legs, or pain due to infection or nerve damage days after surgery. Get physically examined. You may need CT, MRI & follow up treatment with anti-inflammatory medications, local cortisone injections, exercise or physical therapy.
In the meantime, stay in rest, sitting on a pillow or buttock support may be of help.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Nupur K, General & Family Physician
